Singapore Transit Equity Analysis — Q2 2026#

Assessment of MRT station access and bus coverage across HDB estates in the North-East and West regions.

Methodology#

Pulled LTA DataMall feed for station entries/exits over 90 days, joined with OneMap planning-area polygons and census demographic overlays from SingStat.

Findings#

  • Sengkang and Punggol show the densest MRT coverage but poorest bus-to-residence walkshed
  • Jurong West has inverted pattern: deep bus penetration, sparse rail
  • Tuas remains an island of transit desert (industrial zoning)

Next steps#

Coordinate with LTA NEL phase-3 planners, share the shortfall atlas with URA masterplan team.
